The baster and butler charities were amalgamated in 1909 for the purpose of using any income for the benefit of the poor or deserving of the parish of inkpen. In 1931 the charity joined with inkpen poor's allotment (est. 1815 after the enclosure act) to relieve poverty in inkpen. An annual 'gift' (usually monetary) is distributed to mainly elderly residents of the local parish.
