The society aims to promote and foster public knowledge, understanding and appreciation of the history of colyton parish. There is a museum and display at the heritage centre together with a research room for those interested in local and family history. Regular town walks take place for those interested in the history of the buildings, and a series of monthly talks and discussions are held.
