Group b streptococcus (gbs) is the uk's commonest life-threatening infection in newborn babies. Without preventative medicine, gbs infects approximately 700 babies a year: 75 die & 40 survivors have long-term problems. Most gbs infections are preventable by offering higher-risk women antibiotics in labour. Gbss informs pregnant women and health professionals how to do this, saving tiny lives.
