The main object of the cio shall be to relieve suffering and distress amongst personsendangered by accidents or natural hazards or being in a vulnerable position, and in particular to promote and co-ordinate search and rescue arrangements in the county of norfolk as directed by the norfolk constabulary, norfolk fire service or other appropriate authority.
